What a way to end I Love to Read month!!

We had FIVE mystery readers today!
What a GREAT way to finish up I Love to Read month!

We started off with a bang!  Our superintendent, Mr. Dittberner stopped by right during our morning meeting for our first surprise mystery reader. He read us not one, but two books!  First was No Carrots for Harry his daughter Annie's favorite when she was growing up.  Then was Milk and Cookies, not only one of Mrs. Trnka's favorites, but Mr. Dittberner's son Sam's too!

Next was Grandma Deenie!  She stopped by right before lunch to read
us one of Dr. Seuss's classics, Hop on Pop!

Then we had our very first BROTHER come read to us!  Ian's brother George, who is in third grade here at Falcon Ridge, surprised us after Media today and read us one of our favorites, The Day the Crayons Quit!  We especially like the part about the naked crayon - hee hee!

We weren't done yet!  Jacob's mom Sara came to read to us shortly after George!  She read Misery Moo - a new one for most of us!  We loved it!

Our final mystery reader brought us one of our favorites...Pete the Cat - I Love My White Shoes.  We LOVE this one and couldn't resist reading (and singing) along with Taylor's mom, Kari, as she read to us!

A Double Reader Day!

We had TWO mystery readers today! First, Mr. Buthe came over from the CEC to read us Harry the Dirty Dog.  This was one of Mrs. Trnka's favorites when she was a little girl!  It was exciting to have one of the "big dogs" come read to us! Hunter's mom, Tracy, also came and read us A Fish Out of Water.  It was the first time a lot of us heard that story and can't wait to find it in the library or at a bookstore!  What a fun day for celebrating reading!

To celebrate Valentine's Day, we wore our jammies, played some board games and traded Valentine cards with each other.  What a fun way to spend an afternoon!  The friendships in this classroom are priceless!

Happy Half-Birthday

We had another half-birthday to celebrate on the same day as our Valentine's Party!  What a busy day!  We hope you enjoyed your special day sweetie!

Another Mystery Reader

Falcon Ridge's very own Mrs. Luskey was our mystery reader today!  Her daughter is in our class!  She helped pick out the story Click! Clack! Moo! to go along with our letter-writing practice we've been doing this past week.  We LOVED it!

Happy Birthday Mr. Giesen!

Mr. Giesen turned the big 4-0 today!  Here are a few mini-principals
all donning their shirts and ties!  We sure hope he enjoyed his special day :)

legitimate February birthday!  We hope you enjoyed your special day!

Inside Recess!

These girlies worked their tails off to get a 100 piece puzzle finished
during our 20 minute recess.  Way to go girls!!  What a fun way to spend inside recess.

TWO Mystery Readers in ONE Day!

We had TWO Mystery Readers in ONE day!  What fun!  Surprisingly enough their book choices worked well together.  Laurie read us The Underpants Zoo and Nicole read us Walter the Farting Dog.  Clearly they both know first graders love anything to do with bonzoes!  Ha!
